Emergency Department
Emergency medicine is a medical specialty in which a physician receives practical training to care for patients with acute illnesses or injuries which require immediate medical attention. While not usually providing long term or continuing care, emergency medicine physicians diagnose a variety of illnesses and undertake acute interventions to stabilize the patient.
At EOMC, the Emergency Department is staffed with emergency medical professionals and is available 24 hours every day. Emergency medicine should not be substituted for general practice. By law, emergency departments may not be able to treat non-emergent medical issues. At our Emergency Department, we are committed to providing quality service by meeting the needs of our patients and their families with courtesy and respect. Your emergency experience at EOMC should be one of care, concern and attention to your physical and emotional needs.
What makes us different?
In order to keep in touch with scientific advances in the continually evolving system of healthcare today, continuing education is a must. Emergency Department nurses hold current certifications in both ACLS and PALS. The administration and medical staff and Eastern Oklahoma Medical Center promote the professional growth and competency of its patient care providers. Our emphasis on training and customer service is coupled with decades of combined experience.
You deserve more, and that is exactly what EOMC ER gives you:
- More service in a patient friendly environment
- More technology that is critical to treating special cases.
- More specialized care by highly skilled ER doctors.
- More Convenience with our accessible location.
The EOMC Emergency Department is a Level IV Trauma Center with 7 treatment rooms and three cardiac/trauma beds. The department is always open and staffed around the clock with doctors, nurses and support staff who are specialized in emergency care. There is never a convenient time to have an emergency, but if it does happen to you or a member of your family, it’s nice to know that a quality facility such as the Emergency Department at Eastern Oklahoma Medical Center exists in your area. Because emergencies cannot be scheduled, there are times when a number of patients will be cared for at the same time. This may also increase waiting time, but rest assured that each patient is seen as quickly as possible. 2 family members may wait in the ER with each patient. Other family members and visitors may wait in the ER Waiting Area, located next to the treatment area.
